Optimizing crop productions for smallholder farmers through soil fertility management

1. To train project field extension staff from on soil health surveillance and soil sampling protocols and procedures.
2. Undertake field data collection and analyze soil functional properties using XRF technology.
3. Undertake soil analysis, data interpretation and prepare recommendations based on soil analysis reports as detailed on the shared workplan detailed in the contract.

We conducted soil analysis training and soil sample collection and analysis for 33 farmers in Inuka and Izyira villages. The soil samples were then analysed using Alpha and XRF technology for both macro and micro nutrients in our mobile laboratory with the aim of coming up with the most suitable soil interventions so as to optimize their crop productions within the targeted farms. We then disseminated the soil analysis results to the 33 farmers and adviced them on the soil correction measures to undertake.
